Chiropractic
Treatment for Pain:
Dr. Walt treats painful conditions by first examining the underlying musculo-skeletal
problem. This includes kinesiology testing (individual testing of muscles
by the function) and then uses gentle chiropractic manipulation to correct
the condition. Physiotherapy, including ice, hydrocollator hot packs,
interferential current therapy are used for pain reduction. Myofascial
release (deep tissue massage) is added to reduce muscle spasms and adhesions
in the soft tissue.
Acupuncture
Treatment for Pain:
Acupuncture is implemented for deep-seated painful syndromes or chronic
musculo-skeletal pain. Electro-acupressure is appropriate for either severe
intense pain, or pain due to chronic severe muscular adhesions (muscular
scar tissue.) Acupressure follows these treatments to stabilize joint
dysfunction by reducing muscle spasms and adhesions.
Severe
Pain:
Severe debilitating pain is addressed by using cryotherapy (ice packs)
or electro-acupuncture, whichever is preferred by the patient. Thereafter,
the patient may be a candidate for gentle, chiropractic manipulation.
Finally, tape or a brace is added to stabilize joint instability, and
to prevent premature relapses of severe pain.
Chronic
Pain:
Chronic pain is usually addressed by performing gentle maintenance chiropractic
manipulation or "intra-muscular acupuncture" followed by either physiotherapy
or acupressure using a an analgesic balm. Treatment depends on the patient's
preference and individual problem.
Pain
Unresponsive to Previous Treatment:
Usually pain that has not responded to previous treatment is due to improper
diagnosis. We offer a complimentary exam and "working diagnoses" with
the purchase of the first treatment. This way you can see if your pain
may respond to recombining the above systems in complimentary medicine.
This allows for a favorable response to back, foot, knee, hip, shoulder,
wrist and jaw pain, even when previous treatments may not have made significant
progress before. In these cases, frequently the injured area is so unstable
that it needs to be tape-casted or a brace must be worn when the joint
is inflamed. |
